Course
Basic course in asphalt paving
Asphalt is an important and widely used pavement for roads. Its quality and durability originate from the raw material to insight into processing and application. In other words, from the producer to the designer.
Therefore, this basic course focuses on the practical knowledge of raw materials, production and processing of asphalt and the relationship between the different steps in the asphalt process. In this way you will gain an understanding of the material "asphalt" and how to correctly select the different types of asphalt. You will learn the basic properties of asphalt, how asphalt is produced, what applications exist and which aspects require special attention.
The course focuses on the situation in Flanders. Therefore, each phase is tested against the specifications in Standard Specifications 250.
During each module, taught by industry experts, there is plenty of time for questions. Interaction, such as one's own experience, makes the course engaging for each participant. A visit to an asphalt plant and a job site complement this course to get a hands-on experience as well.
