Engineering manager in maritime and industrial transportation
As a technical manager, I have a wide range of responsibilities
- watch over the technical fitness of our mobile plants;
- operationally coordinate projects at home and abroad (A-Z);- follow up and coordinate development and production of our installations, including new construction;
- Technical support for business development in our USA and Rotterdam division;
- conformity testing and development with European and American directives (CE, ASME,...);
- Fill in internal training and seminars on our techniques;
- management of team of project managers, along with operations director- participation in management team
In this role I use a broad spectrum of knowledge from training, coming into contact with chemistry, materials science, welding techniques, strength calculations, electricity,... almost daily contact. In the participation of the management team, the roles start to overlap even more and you gain insight into finance, operations, human resources, investments, business development.My role at the moment is therefore partly technical and partly managerial. My day is mainly filled with working out large projects (internal or external), supplemented by operational support.
