VICOMS - Virtual Commissioning for Motion Systems

Machine builders in Flanders are increasingly faced with the challenge of developing energy-efficient, high-performance, and low-maintenance machines, preferably within the shortest possible production time. In the design process for such machines, a sequential strategy is still too often used, in which the design process, the actual production of the machine, and commissioning follow one another. As a result, design improvements are often identified too late, leading to machines that function but are not optimized.

Enhanced capabilities in commercial control systems, the availability of CAD models, and optimization tools have recently made it possible to achieve time savings of up to 75% during commissioning and to improve machine design and tuning. This project will make these capabilities for virtual commissioning available to the Flemish machine-building sector.
